Mr Meditate was founded in 2012 because of the growing amounts of depression in the workplace. Being meditators and wanting to help, the organization offers to teach a very simple and universal meditation technique that helps to tackle this problem. The organization has launched in San Francisco, California, one of the world’s most progressive and forward thinking cities.
More than ever before, mental health has become of growing concern in society and the workplace. There is stress from all sorts of pressures and we build a whole culture around hiding from it, pretending it is not there, and distracting ourselves with goals, projects and concerns about status. We get stuck in the ‘if only’ syndrome. If I had more money, then I would be happy. If only I could find someone who really loved me; if only I could lose 20 pounds and on and on forever. What meditation helps to discover is that we are already happy and just need to slow down to realize it.
Traditional psychotherapy and prescription pills are one of the best known recourses for people to resort to. A quick fix prescribed by medical doctors and pharmacists. More and more, natural therapies and alternative medicines are being sought after. Meditation is one of these and has been proven to work over millenniums.
According to many, meditation is the best self-development thing you can do. It is very simple, though not necessarily easy. It takes time and it takes energy. It also takes grit, determination and discipline. It requires a host of personal qualities that we normally regard as unpleasant and like to avoid whenever possible. Mission
Mr Meditate travels the world introducing meditation; teaching people and organizations how to meditate. It is a skill, that once learnt, can be done by anyone, anywhere, anytime and for free.
To underlying objective is to help people access the abundance that each person has within them, aiming at the development of awareness, using concentration as a tool to that end. Look outside and dream, and to look inside and awaken.
Mr Meditate offers sessions for individuals, groups or organizations. Participants will be given instructions on how to practice a universal meditation technique, practice it and then be offered some practical tips on how to implement it in their daily lives.
Our mind is like a glass of muddy water. The more you slow it down, the more clarity you will have. A fast mind is dangerous, a still mind is divine.
Benefits of Meditation
Meditation helps to slow down the mind by focusing on one’s breath. The objective is to learn to control your mind and step outside of the endless cycle of craving and aversion, two things/actions/volitions that will make you miserable.
You can only make radical changes in your life when you begin to see yourself exactly as you are now. Mental cultivation through meditation is without rival in helping you achieve this sort of understanding and serene happiness. No one can do more for you than your purified mind.
Meditation is intended to purify the mind. It cleanses the thought process and brings the mind into a state of tranquility and awareness, a state of concentration and insight. Civilization changes a person on the outside. Meditation softens a person from within, through and through. The greater your understanding, the more flexible and tolerant, the more compassionate you can be. You are ready to forgive and forget. You feel love towards others because you understand them, and you understand others because you have understood yourself.
It is knowing that something is true because you have experienced it within yourself, not from rites, rituals or scriptures. Meditation changes your character by a process of sensitization, by making you deeply aware of your own thoughts, words and deeds. Your mind becomes still and calm. Meditation, properly performed, prepares you to meet the ups and downs of existence. It reduces your tension, fear, and worry. Restlessness recedes and passion moderates. Meditation sharpens your concentration and your thinking power.
There is only one way you will ever know if meditation is worth the effort: learn to do it right, and do it. See for yourself.
How To Meditate 1. Sit comfortably upright and close your eyes. 2. Focus on your breath between your nostrils and upper lip. 3. When your mind wanders, bring it back to your breath. Set up a timer for the duration of your session (minimum 5 mins).
All the instructors are experienced meditators and internationally certified by the University of Holistic Theology which is a member of the International Academy of Meditation Instructors.
