Monthly Playlist May 2013

The Monthly Playlist will feature songs and sounds that VibeWest editors and contributors will pick to highlight some of the music that we have been listening to and talking about.  It won’t feature just one genre, rather a glimpse into what great sounds are happening all over the West Coast Festival Scene.

This month we start the playlist with a band that started the BottleRock Festival for us last weekend.  Moonalice is a band of hippie musicians from California with no label, no manager, no publicist, no problems, and lots of fans. The song is a teaser for all of us to get into that Festival spirit and get on the “Ride”.  World beloved Italian Producer/DJ Gaudi dropped his latest album this month titled “In Between Times”.  Offered up was a free download of the dub-licious track “Unlimited Possibilities” featuring the reggae vocals of Danny Ladwa.

One of our favorite bands exploded on the scene a couple of years ago and have been a rising favorite on the Festival scene ever since.  Alabama Shakes soothes our bluesy soul with “Hold On”.  The traveling carnival going by the name of “Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros put on an amazing revival at the BottleRock Festival earlier this month in Napa, CA and are set to play the Sasquatch Festival later on in Washington State. Their track “Home” is one of our favorites!  Joining the Sasquatch lineup is new band on the block Imagine Dragons from Las Vegas, NV.  Next on the playlist is their track “It’s Time” from the   debut album “Night Visions”.

One of the biggest successes of the West Coast music scene is the band Train, and their set at the BottleRock Festival was a reminder for us all how good these guys really are. This live version of “Save Me San Francisco” is full of great sign along moments and testaments to our beloved West Coast.

Sasquatch Festival addition Disclosure give us the sultry “You & Me” featuring Eliza Doolittle.  Followed by the latest track from Festival Alumni Bassnectar called “Freestyle”.

Finishing up the Playlist this month is the latest track from lineup powerhouse Michael Franti and Spearhead.  This song called “Im Alive” is another great uplifting tune from the band that just keeps making us Jump!

The Monthly Playlist will be featured each month on our Music Page!
